Rudolf "Rudi" Gutendorf - International Matches as Coach


The outstanding German coach coached 55 teams in 32 countries, across five continents, thereby holding an official Guinness World Record. This included coaching nine national teams (Bermuda, Chile, Botswana, Australia, Nepal, Ghana, Mauritius, Zimbabwe and Rwanda) for (in total) 77 international matches. He was the national team coach for a number of other countries (including Bolivia, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Iran (Olympic team) and China (Olympic team)), but these played no official international matches during his tenure. All matches are friendlies unless stated otherwise.

A few months later he was coach of club side Bolívar.

In 1975 he trained the National Team for a few months before being replaced by Walter
Roque for the Copa América.

In 1976 he trained the National Team for a few months before being replaced by Edgar
Vidale for the World Cup Qualifiers.
