As a result, on June 20, 1988, CONCACAF disqualified Mexico from the Youth World Cup and announced lifetime
suspensions to the main officials of the Mexican Federation.
The Mexican Federation decided to appeal the sanction to FIFA. As a result on June 30th 1988 FIFA banned Mexico from
all FIFA-sanctioned competitions for two years.

Costa Rica and USA qualified to FIFA WYC 1989.
