Ireland - List of Dublin City Cup Winners


The Dublin City cup was contested by all league sides. It was usually run as a knockout competition but was run as a league for a period (see below).

Unusually the final of this competition was twice decided on corners - the team who got the most corners in the final were declared winners in the event of a draw! On both of these occasions the victors were Shamrock Rovers who also won the Belfast-Dublin Inter-City Cup by the same method in 1943.

After being dropped in 1973 the Dublin City Cup was revived twice 
but dropped again and hasn’t been contested since 1984. In 1975-76 
only clubs who failed to reach the quarter-finals of the league cup 
were eligible. In 1983-84 only the six Dublin clubs (Bohemians, 
Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne, St Pats, UCD and Home Farm), plus
Dundalk and Drogheda were involved.
