Ranking according to Rounds Reached

Note: from 1927-1933 only eight clubs participated and the tournament
      started with the quarterfinals; this happened again in 1939;
from 1934-1938 sixteen clubs entered the first round, with, only
in 1936, a preliminary round in which the four Swiss participants
had to enter (and all lost).
Also note that in 1932 three clubs were eliminated in the semifinals
and no team lost the final, while in 1937 five clubs were eliminated
in the quarterfinals and by consequence only one in the semifinals.

Abbreviations used:

part.: number of participations
wins : number of wins
final: number of final losses
semis: number of semifinal eliminations
quart: number of quarterfinal eliminations
first: number of first round eliminations
prel.: number of preliminary round eliminations

Club Name Information

The names of the clubs above are in many cases different from those directly after the war or the current ones. In particular were all Italian teams forced to change the "foreign" parts of their names in 1926, while most Hungarian teams formed separate professional sections in the same year.

Below a countrywise overview of the names of the 42 clubs which participated in the 13 completed pre-War Mitropa Cups and their later fate.

Austria

All six Austrian clubs above still exist with unchanged names, with the exception of SK Admira, which after several mergers is now a part of VfB Admira/Wacker Mödling. However, most have included (often changing) sponsor names during their later history (the exception is Rapid).
