New Zealand (Youth) 2002

The National Youth League (U19/U20)

This is the inaugural season.

The aim of the league is to prepare players for the 2003
U20 World Cup.

All players must be born in 1983 or after. In 2002 it is
an U19 league but will follow the players through and next
year it will be an U20 league.

Then after the U20 World Cup, the league will revert back
to U19 and will follow the next batch through to the 2005 U20 WC.

Participants:
Northland/North Harbour (aka United Soccer or Fed 1 - Northland and North Harbour)
Auckland/Manukau        (aka Soccer 2 or Fed 2 - Auckland and Manukau)
Waikato/B.O.P.          (aka Force Three or Fed 3 - Waikato and Bay of Plenty)
Central North Island    (aka Central or Fed 4 - Manawatu, Taranaki, Hawke's Bay, Poverty Bay and Wanganui)
Wellington              (aka Capital Soccer or Fed 5 - Wellington, Hutt Valley, Wairarapa, Kapiti Coast)
Canterbury/Nelson       (aka Fed 6 - Canterbury, West Coast, Nelson and Marlborough)
Otago/Southland         (aka Southern or Fed 7 - South Canterbury, Otago, Southland)
New Zealand U16         (aka NZ Academy - the squad for the 2003 U17 World Cup)
