The Scottish FA had declined invitations for separate tours to New Zealand and Australia due to financial arrangements and the distance and time involved. However, they decided to accept an invitation from the Dominion of Canada FA received on 18 October 1926. After discussion, arrangements were agreed a tour by 18 players, a trainer and four officials leaving Glasgow on 13 May 1927 and returning from Canada on 15 July 1927. The Scottish FA minutes listed an initial tour itinerary but some details were changed later. The match dates in this record have been checked and confirmed with contemporary Canadian newspapers. Scorers and timing of goals have been taken from the same sources.
McGrory (Celtic) and Rankin (Dundee) were replaced in the final party by J McStay (Celtic) and Munro (St.Johnstone) respectively. By the time of the tour Simpson had transferred from Dundee United to Rangers.
