Millî Küme (National League)

The 1937 Millî Küme (National League) was the first season of the competition and the first time clubs across the country played against each other on a double round-robin basis. The top ranked clubs of the İstanbul, Ankara, and İzmir regional leagues were included in the league. It was held from 21 March to 11 July 1937. All matches in İstanbul were played at Taksim Stadium, the matches in Ankara at 19 Mayıs Stadium, while the matches in İzmir were played at Alsancak Stadium.

The Turkish Football Championship was not held from 1936 to 1939. It was resumed again in 1940, existing alongside the National League from then on.

1936/37 İstanbul League: Fenerbahçe, Güneş, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş
1936/37 Ankara League: Ankaragücü, Gençlerbirliği
1936/37 İzmir League: Doğanspor, Üçok [*]

[*] The İzmir clubs merged in order to be more competitive. Doğanspor consisted of
    Göztepe, İzmirspor, and Yün Pamuk Mensucat while Üçok consisted of Altay, 
    Altınordu, and Buca.
