Luxembourg 1914/15

Due to the outbreak of the Great War (Germany occupied Luxembourg at the beginning of August 1914), the championship did not start until February 1915. To finish the season on time, and because long trips appeared inadvisable, it was decided to first play tournaments at district level, followed by a playoff for the national title between the district winners.
Originally, Sporting had been declared winners of the Luxembourg-Ville section, and they went on to claim the national title, but defending champions Union protested against Sporting having fielded Batty Meyer in their match on 21 March 1915, as Meyer was licensed in Switzerland (he studied in Zürich) and neither he nor Sporting had applied for the necessary permission to also play official matches in Luxembourg.
The board of the F.S.L.S.A. as well as its council of delegates rejected the protest, but at an extraordinary general meeting held on 20 June 1915 Union's protest was upheld, and Sporting's 3-2 win was changed into a forfeit loss. Thus, Union were declared champions of the capital, and the matches of Sporting in the national playoff were annulled, Union taking their place (and winning the championship instead).
Another noteworthy occurrence this season was the first ever entry in an official league competition by the country's oldest football club, Fola from Esch-sur-Alzette; previously, they had only entered the first edition of the Challenge Steinès, only to withdraw after losing a match.
